Hazardous Area DossiersFebruary 23, 2018
The hazardous area dossier is a requirement of the owner/occupier to maintain an up to date copy that can be produced upon request. It is also the responsibility of the owner/occupier to ensure audits and inspections are conducted periodically. The hazardous area dossier is effectively a vehicle log book but pertinent to electrical equipment installed in hazardous areas of plant. The information contained in the dossier is a log of the electrical equipment from when it was installed through to present detailing area classification details, equipment name plate details, protection technique and equipment and installation details. Whilst it is the responsibility of the owner /occupier to maintain the hazardous area dossier, more often than not they do not have the appropriately trained or skilled personnel within the business, so a contractor would be engaged to take care of their requirements.
